As engineers, we're always chasing the clock. Finding time to commit to regular volunteering can be impossible between call-outs and paperwork. That's why I highly rate Micro-Volunteering.

It allows you to help charities and researchers in bite-sized chunks (5-10 mins)—perfect for when you're waiting for a panel to reset or sitting in the van on a lunch break.

• Be My Eyes: Lend your eyes to a blind or low-vision person via a quick live video call. Help them check a thermostat, read a label, or find the right cable.
• Zooniverse: Help scientists classify data from your phone. Spot patterns in nature, space, or history while you drink your coffee.
• Missing Maps: Use satellite imagery to map vulnerable areas, helping humanitarian teams reach people during disasters.
